Ross Lake House Hotel in Galway is a splendid 19th century Georgian house. Built in 1850, it is formerly an estate house of the landed gentry, who prized its serenity. The hotel is also a member of the Green Book of Ireland. Ross Lake House Hotel, formerly Killaguille estate and one of Connemara's most gracious mid 19th century houses, was built by James Edward Jackson, land agent for Lord Iveagh at Ashford Castle. Killaguille house and its estate comprised of 1,200 acres of land. Subsequently, the land was divided and the house converted into a hotel in 1969 and renamed Ross Lake House because of its close proximity to Ross Lake and the internationally renowned fishing waters of Lough Corrib. The house is surrounded by mature gardens with magnificent trees and has its own tennis court.
Dining at Ross Lake House Hotel is an Irish experience. The hotel is very protective of its reputation for food excellence. In developing such a reputation, the staff have paid particular attention to home produced Irish food. You can enjoy a tempting variety of Irish food, beautifully prepared from nearby Connemara hills, streams and lakes, as well as fish straight from the Atlantic. To complement the food, the hotel offers an excellent selection of personally selected wines to suit all tastes from traditional Red Burgundy to new world Chardonnay.
